- Minecraft Worlds: Windows 10 & Pocket Edition
Recently i have become very addicted to Minecraft, the version i have been playing is Windows 10 Edition, while playing this i realized this is actually the same as pocket addition, which means players from both versions can play with one another(xbox and non-xbox users), but also so can the worlds / maps.
But how to get them into your game? and where can we get maps from?
Below is a guide on how to install worlds / maps on your device, As well as some good maps i have found.
Please select an option above to review the installation guide.
Windows 10 Edition
Some maps (or worlds) in Minecraft are downloaded as a .mcworld / .mcpack file. To install such files go to your Downloads folder. Find the file and double-click it to install it and it will be automatically imported to your game. It might ask you to select an app to open it with. Just select to open it with Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition.
However, most maps are downloaded as a .ZIP or .RAR file, These require a slightly different way to install them. Firstly Extract the whole .ZIP or .RAR file to a location of your choosing, Once you have done this navigate to the following location on your machine:
C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\minecraftWorlds
Depending on how many worlds you have you may see content already in this folder, Now take the whole folder you extracted and place it in the location above.
Now you are ready to play your imported world, just simply load up your game and it will be select-able where the rest of your worlds are.
Android Pocket Edition
If you’ve downloaded a .MCWorld file then using something like ES File Explorer; go to your Downloads folder, Find the .mcworld file and tap on it to import it to your game. The world should automatically launch in-game.
If the above instructions don’t work then use the ES File Explorer to rename the file to end with .zip. Or if your file is already a .ZIP or .RAR file then this is what you need to do instead.
Firstly, you need to download your map or world, if you have already done this then the next thing you need to do is open the .RAR or .ZIP file. This can be done with any file manager software. A good one to use is ASTRO File Manager. Once you have opened the file copy the folder to the following location:
/storage/emulated/0/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds/
You have now installed the map and can safely close the file manager app. Open Minecraft: Pocket Edition (or restart the app if you had it opened during the map installation). Look for the map in your world list.
iOS Pocket Edition
Some worlds are downloaded as one of the following file formats: .mcworld, .mcpack. If that’s the case then you will be able to install those by opening the file with the Minecraft Pocket Edition app. If it’s a world/map it will be installed and opened instantly on your device.
However, some maps are downloaded as .ZIP or .RAR files, If you have one of these files then you wont be able to download this directly to your iOS device, instead you will have to use a 3rd party application on your PC or MAC.
The best one is iFunBox, download this to your computer and install. It’s a free file manager application which work for both Windows and Mac computers. Once installed plug in your iOS device using the USB cable.
Start the iFunBox application; once open Click “File Browser” in the top-left corner and then Double-click your device in the sidebar on the left then click on “User Applications”, click the Minecraft PE icon and select "Open Sandbox".
Doing this will open the folders where all the data for PE Edition, Navigate to minecraftWorlds folder which is located here:
games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds
Here is a list of all your worlds, now you can copy over the folder you extracted from the original .ZIP or .RAR file by copy and pasting it here.
Maps
You will find a lot of maps online for Minecraft, but a lot of them will not work on Windows 10 or PE Editions, Maps have to be built specially for these versions of the game, Below is a selection of maps i have found to be good to play. This selection is just a small selection, however to view all the maps i have click the link below, or take a look at some of the feature maps below.
Feature Maps
The Relic of Riverwood [Adventure]
The Relic of Riverwood is a short (20-30 minutes long) but fun adventure map with an intriguing and easy to understand storyline. You are a lonesome traveller who by accident pass by the town of Riverwood. Little did you know but the villagers have awaited you and they got a quest for you and that is to find their stolen relic and return it.Creator: InterceptorXD -

Find The Exit [Minigame]
Find The Exit is a map with enough challenges to keep you busy for anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. There are a good variety of challenges including everything from monster battles to puzzles. The main objective all throughout the map is to find the exit. But usually it just leads on to the next level which you then must complete.Creator: studofenfield -
RULES
As soon as you’ve loaded the world there will be signs explaining briefly how to continue. As long as you read those signs you should be good to go.
In the first couple of levels you have to enter a large room with lots of hostile mobs. Fight your way through hordes of zombies and try to find the exit.

Hidden Treasure [Adventure]
This is a short adventure map where your abilities will be put to a test to see if you’ve got what it takes to obtain a sacred treasure. It’s a quite fun map where you have to play through three different levels. Personally, I don’t think it’s a difficult map and I would expect it would take on average 15-20 minutes to complete. I won’t tell you about the end but it’s definitely something different!Creator: Adventure Maps

Lava Escape [Minigame]
This map sets you up for an intense challenge where you need to complete three different parkour courses while trying to escape lava which is pouring down from the ceiling. If you aren’t quick enough you will die!Creator: BlackZero -
