Originally; Approx 2 years ago we bought a bed from +Buy As You View, it was a leather bed costing about £1500. About 3 to 4 months ago the bed frame broke. We contact Buy as You View who referred us onto their insurance company. Before we could make our claim for a replacement bed we was contact by +Buy As You View and told they will not replace the bed so there's no point in putting a claim in.

We took out insurance originally with this bed for accidental damage; however Buy As You View informed us that the frame snapping is classed as normal wear and tear. This as i'm sure most of you would agree can surly not be classed as wear and tear. If a bed frame cannot last longer than the credit agreement then this to me is shoddy craftsmanship.

Finally last week they agreed to replace the bed. They arrived at our house on Wednesday 30th October 2013. They took the old bed away and then provided us with the replacement bed. After they left we removed all the bubble wrap around the new bed. Upon looking over the bed we started to realize that we will not be able to use it.

To begin with there are no plastic slots for the wooden slats to connect into. Plus there is no bolts / screws meaning we cannot put this bed together even if we wanted to. But it doesn't end there. After inspecting the bed further it is very apparent to us that this bed has been taken from another customers house, no refurbishment has taken place. The amount of damage on this bed is incredible. We was not informed that the replacement bed was going to be a refurbishment, However we are still expected to pay the original price of a brand new bed. I can image some people might think whats so wrong with this bed apart from a few screws missing? Well let me enlighten you with the extent of the damage:

  • 3 Middle Feet (Only 2 Bolts)
  • Middle Support Bar (No Bolts or Plastic Clips for the wooden slats)
  • A  hole in the headboard
  • White liquid stains on the material (Can Only Guess What This Is)
  • White Paint Stains on the material.
  • The wooden feet are scratched and chipped
  • Debris in-between the sides of the bed.
  • Fag burn on the material.
To put this in a better perspective please take a look at the images below:

This is the conditional of the replacement bed. This is unacceptable. This is not the first time we have been given a product that is refurbished but made to pay brand new price for. You may remember my review on the Sony Hybrid Tablet. Originally when i got this device i was told it was brand new. However evens till to this day there is a sticker on the back of the device that clearly stats this is refurbished. However +Buy As You View claimed it was brand new and what we was saying cannot be true.

Needles to say +Buy As You View are sending poor quality refurbished products and trying to pass them off as brand new and still expect there customers to pay brand new prices. We all know that Buy As You View is not the cheapest or best option to go for but sometimes we cant just afford to go out any buy something.

Since Wednesday and many many phone calls we are still without a bed and continuing to have to sleep on the floor. As this progresses we will update this blog.
